A Farmfoods shopper has complained to the retailer after witnessing another customer purchasing 90 boxes of chicken nuggets during a promotional offer. The incident occurred at the Farmfoods store in Meir, Staffordshire, which was promoting a 10 items for £10 deal.
Shopper's frustration over bulk buying
The complainant, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed anger at seeing shoppers loading trolleys with dozens of products. They alleged that the items were intended for resale in convenience stores, rather than personal use.
“I have just been to Farmfoods Longton and they have got the 10 for £10 deal and loads of other deals. I noticed someone just filling trolleys full of stuff for their shop. I told them it is wrong and that there should be a limit. No-one needs 90 boxes of chicken nuggets for themselves,” the shopper said.
Farmfoods responds to complaint
Farmfoods has since apologised for the shopper's experience. A company spokesperson stated: “I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your recent experience at our Longton shop. Whilst we are a retail company, and not a wholesale company, we do try to ensure sufficient stock levels at all times to accommodate all customers. Given this, your comments have been passed onto the area manager responsible for this shop. Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. I do hope that you will continue to shop with Farmfoods as we do value your custom.”
Impact on other customers
The incident has raised questions about whether retailers should impose limits on promotional deals to prevent bulk buying that could leave other customers empty-handed. According to StokeonTrentLive, the complaint has been forwarded to the area manager for review.
Farmfoods, known for its frozen food and discount deals, has not announced any changes to its current promotional policies.
