Superdrug is set to significantly expand its presence at Merry Hill shopping centre in Brierley Hill, doubling the size of its current store and becoming one of the brand's largest outlets in the United Kingdom. The popular beauty and health retailer will take over the former HMV unit, which is adjacent to its existing location, creating a combined retail space of approximately 16,000 square feet.
Expansion Details
The new larger store will offer an enhanced range of beauty and wellbeing brands, alongside in-store treatments such as ear piercing, manicures, and eyebrow threading. A spokesperson for Merry Hill expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating: "We're thrilled that Superdrug has chosen to significantly increase its current store at Merry Hill. Since opening in 1989, the brand has remained incredibly popular with our visitors."
The spokesperson added: "Clearly demonstrating its confidence in the centre, Superdrug will double its existing footprint to an impressive 16,000 square foot, making it one of the largest stores in the UK. The new-look shop will offer an even greater range of beauty and wellbeing brands and products, as well as treatments such as ear piercing, manicures, and eyebrow threading."
Part of a Wider Investment Trend
Superdrug joins a growing list of renowned brands that have invested heavily in their Merry Hill stores, including M&S, EE, Hotel Chocolat, and Goldsmiths. The centre has recently welcomed new openings such as Carnival Games, Wendy's, and an expanded Marks & Spencer store. Future additions include Chick-fil-A and Popeyes on the retail park.
However, the centre has also seen some closures, including the YouTube restaurant Sides, which shut its doors earlier this week. Superdrug has been approached for comment regarding the expansion timeline and specific offerings.
