The Original Factory Shop Closes All 137 Stores and Disappears from UK High Streets

The Original Factory Shop, a long-standing UK retailer, has completely vanished from high streets across the country after closing all of its 137 locations. The chain collapsed into administration on January 28, 2026, and management consulting firm Interpath confirmed that the final stores shut their doors on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Phased Closure Leads to Complete Shutdown

A spokesperson for the administrators stated that a phased closure of the store portfolio was implemented due to the dire financial position of the business. Without any viable offers to rescue the company, it became impossible for The Original Factory Shop to continue trading, leading to the closure of all remaining stores by early April.

The majority of employees have been made redundant as a result of the shutdown, though a small number of staff have been retained to assist the joint administrators in formally winding up the business. A specialist team is in place to support impacted staff with making claims through the Redundancy Payments Service.

Administrator Comments on the Collapse

Rick Harrison, managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, expressed regret over the situation, noting that The Original Factory Shop had been a cornerstone of local high streets throughout the UK. He cited significant trading challenges that forced the company into administration, despite efforts to operate stores as a going concern while assessing options for the business in the weeks following the initial collapse.

The closure marks the end of an era for the retailer, which had been a familiar presence in many communities. The disappearance of all 137 locations underscores the ongoing struggles faced by traditional brick-and-mortar stores in a rapidly changing retail landscape.
