Warrens Bakery and Jolly's Drinks announce UK store partnership
Warrens Bakery and Jolly's Drinks UK store deal

Historic Cornish pasty maker Warrens Bakery has sealed a major partnership with soft drinks producer Jolly's Drinks, bringing the two heritage brands together across all 50 of its UK stores. The agreement means Jolly's Cornish-made beverages will now be available in Warrens locations nationwide, from high street shops to railway stations and petrol station forecourts.

The move creates a collaboration between two family-rooted Cornish companies, combining Warrens' more than 160-year legacy in bakery with Jolly's locally-sourced soft drink range. Both brands share a strong affiliation with Cornwall, and the partnership is set to introduce the taste of the county to a much wider audience.

Jolly's Drinks: From Carharrack village to Saltash factory

Jolly's Drinks was founded in 1986 by John Jolly in the Cornish village of Carharrack. What began as a small enterprise has grown into a substantial business, now producing its range of soft drinks from a large factory in Saltash. The company prides itself on using local spring water, a defining feature of its products, and remains under family ownership.

Cheryl Ingram, managing director of Jolly's Drinks, expressed her delight at the new arrangement: "We're delighted to see Jolly's Drinks available in Warrens Bakery. As two proud Cornish brands with long-standing heritage, it's a natural partnership that brings together the great Cornish pasty and refreshing original Cornish soft drinks."

She continued: "Both businesses share a passion for quality, tradition, and championing Cornwall, so we're excited that customers can now enjoy a Jolly's drink alongside a famous Warren's pasty or bakery treat. We look forward to working together and introducing even more people to the taste of Cornwall."

Warrens Bakery: A legacy from St Just to 50 stores

Warrens Bakery was established on the cobbled streets of St Just in Cornwall when two Cornish families, the Warrens and the Harveys, were united in marriage in 1860. Since then, the company has evolved into a nationwide chain, headquartered in Helston, with 50 bakery stores across high streets, railway stations and roadside locations.

The bakery is renowned for its Cornish pasties, which are made using traditional recipes and techniques. The new partnership with Jolly's complements this heritage by offering a locally-produced drink that pairs naturally with Warrens' bakery goods.

Partnering for a perfect pairing

Craig Wood, assistant retail director at Warrens Bakery, welcomed the deal, saying: "We're thrilled to be partnering with Jolly's to give people a delicious taste of two of Cornwall's leading food and drink producers. It's a perfect pairing." His words echo the sentiment from Jolly's, with both companies highlighting the natural affinity between their products.

The partnership also aligns with Warrens' recent expansion into convenience retail. Earlier in July, the company opened its 50th store in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, located at the Texaco garage on Crudwell Road. This site marks the seventh petrol station concession under the Warrens Bakery and SGN Retail partnership, following similar outlets in Calcot, Didcot, Lechlade, Ludlow, Lydney and Frenchay.

Forecourt strategy reflects evolving consumer habits

Warrens Bakery chief executive Mark Sullivan previously explained the company's forecourt approach: "Our expansion into forecourts reflects how consumer habits are evolving, with people wanting speed and convenience but also quality, provenance and a better food-to-go experience. All this is now on offer at our new Malmesbury site."

With the Jolly's drinks deal now in place, Warrens is able to offer an even more complete Cornish food-to-go experience. The combination of pasties and soft drinks is expected to appeal to customers looking for authentic regional products, and the deal strengthens both companies' positions in the competitive grab-and-go market.

A boost for Cornish produce nationwide

The agreement between Warrens and Jolly's underscores a growing trend of regional producers leveraging established retail networks to expand their reach. For Jolly's, being stocked in all 50 Warrens stores provides a significant platform to introduce its drinks to customers outside Cornwall.
