G.M. Jones and Sons, a long-standing supplier of Pukka Pies in the Midlands, has collapsed into liquidation after nearly four decades in business. The company entered liquidation on Monday, April 20, according to a filing in the Gazette.
Company Background
Since 1989, G.M. Jones and Sons had been supplying Pukka Pies across the West Midlands, Staffordshire, and Shropshire. The company described itself as having a dedicated delivery team operating from a modern fleet of bespoke vehicles, ensuring quality products arrived in perfect condition. It primarily served the fast food industry in these regions.
Liquidation Details
Timothy Frank Corfield of Griffin & King has been appointed as the liquidator, as per the Government filing. The company's website previously stated, "We deliver mainly to the Fast Food industry in the West Midlands, Staffordshire and Shropshire areas, but whatever your industry, please give us a call."
Pukka Pies Response
A spokesperson for Pukka Pies told The Sun: "G.M. Jones [and Sons] are one of many suppliers of Pukka Pies. We want to reassure customers that there is no impact on the availability of Pukka products. As one of our valued wholesale partners for many years, it’s sad to see them – particularly a fellow family-run company – face challenges in today’s competitive market. We’ve worked closely with customers to help them transition smoothly to alternative suppliers so people across the UK can continue to enjoy Pukka products as usual."
Impact on Supply Chain
The liquidation raises concerns about supply chain disruptions for local businesses that relied on G.M. Jones and Sons for Pukka Pies deliveries. However, Pukka Pies has assured that alternative suppliers are in place to maintain product availability across the UK.
