EDF is offering electric vehicle (EV) drivers £50 cashback, but the deadline is fast approaching. New and existing customers have until 11:59pm tonight to unlock the credit, which is equivalent to around 2,500 miles or four months of free electric driving.
How to Claim the £50 Credit
To receive the £50 EV credit, drivers must sign up to one of EDF’s EV tariffs. Joe Souto, director of retail at EDF, explained: "With petrol prices currently averaging 158p a litre, many drivers are feeling the cost of every journey more than ever. We’re giving drivers £50 EV credit when they sign up to one of EDF’s EV tariffs, helping them go further for less this spring with over 4 months of free driving."
EDF’s FreePhase tariffs provide customers with free electricity when there is an excess of renewable generation and electricity demand is low. In the last fortnight, FreePhase customers received 37 hours of free electricity.
Understanding FreePhase Dynamic Tariff
The FreePhase Dynamic electricity tariff has three pricing rates that reflect daily wholesale energy prices:
- Green (super off peak): 11pm to 6am
- Amber (off peak): 6am to 4pm and 7pm to 11pm
- Red (peak): 4pm to 7pm
This structure allows customers to adapt their electricity use to make the most of cheaper rates.
Sunday Saver Challenge
Customers can also sign up for May’s Sunday Saver from now until Sunday 3rd May at 11:59pm, with the challenge starting on Monday 4th May. Participants can use their earned free electricity on Sunday 17th, 24th, and 31st May, and Sunday 7th June.
To take part, customers need a working smart meter for their electricity supply that sends EDF readings every 30 minutes. Progress can be tracked on Energy Hub via MyAccount, where users can access a personalised view of their household’s energy use.
