A leading North East technology company has been selected by police forces to deliver a crucial cyber security service protecting organisations across the United Kingdom.
Securing the Nation's Digital Frontline
Waterstons, the Durham-based IT security consultancy founded in 1994 by Sally and Mike Waterston, has been awarded the contract to become the new system provider for Police CyberAlarm. The National Cybercrime Team made this significant appointment following a highly competitive commercial tender process.
This Home Office funded cyber threat detection service is offered completely free of charge to UK organisations, helping them combat the thousands of cyberattacks they face daily. Police CyberAlarm works alongside existing security systems to monitor network activity, identify potential threats, and provide actionable intelligence to members.
A Trusted Partnership for Enhanced Protection
Detective Chief Superintendent Andrew Gould, Head of the NPCC National Cybercrime Team, expressed enthusiasm about the new collaboration. "This is an exciting new partnership for Police CyberAlarm as we continue to evolve and enhance the service for our members," he stated. "Waterstons is a well-known and trusted organisation across law enforcement, and we look forward to working with their highly experienced team."
The transition from the current technology partner, Pervade, will be carefully managed over the coming months. Detective Chief Superintendent Gould extended gratitude to Pervade for their "unwavering dedication and passion for Police CyberAlarm and public service," acknowledging that their work laid a strong foundation for the service.
Technical Expertise Meets Growing Cyber Threats
Stewart Hogg, associate director for Cyber at Waterstons, highlighted the comprehensive approach the firm will bring to the partnership. "We're excited to bring together technical expertise from across our services, including software, data and analytics, AI and digital solutions, as well as all areas of the cyber security division," he explained.
Hogg emphasised the critical nature of the service in today's challenging threat landscape. "The threat landscape has never been more challenging for businesses of all sizes, in all sectors, with an attack or breach having serious impact on customers, revenue and reputation," he noted. "We're passionate about protecting organisations, as well as equipping teams with the knowledge they need to detect and react to cyber incidents, and reduce their impact."
As a National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) approved Certified Cyber Consultancy, Waterstons brings proven experience in helping organisations safeguard critical data, protect reputations, and build cyber resilience. With additional offices in London, Glasgow, and Sydney, Australia, the firm serves clients ranging from SMEs to large enterprises.
Police CyberAlarm continues to be delivered through a collaborative effort between a team of police officers, staff, and the selected technology provider, ensuring robust protection for UK organisations against evolving cyber threats.
