Redrow Yorkshire has donated another £20,000 to Zarach, a Leeds-based charity founded by deputy headteacher Bex Wilson to combat child poverty. This latest contribution brings the total partnership funding to over £48,000, which has provided 320 bed bundles to children across Yorkshire, the Tees Valley, and Merseyside.
Partnership Model
Since 2022, Redrow has donated for every new show home bedroom opened in the region, supplemented by regular top-up contributions. This creative approach ensures a steady stream of funding for Zarach's 'Every Head a Bed' project, which provides bed bundles including a new bed, mattress, bedding, and pyjamas.
Impact on Children
Zarach CEO Andy Peers said: “Partnerships like this one are incredibly special to us, with this fantastic support built into Redrow’s core operations. We’re so thankful to the entire Redrow team who have supported us for more than three years now, making a long-lasting impact on the children and families that we support, helping children get a good night’s sleep, and the chance to thrive at school.”
Redrow's Commitment
Steve Jackson, sales director at Redrow Yorkshire, said: “We are proud to continue supporting Zarach with this £20,000 donation. Through donations linked to every new show home bedroom we open, alongside additional contributions such as this one, we hope to help Zarach continue its invaluable work supporting people when they need it most and we will continue to support their ongoing efforts.”
Background
Zarach was founded in 2017 by Leeds deputy headteacher Bex Wilson after witnessing the impact of poverty on pupils' education and wellbeing. What began as a local campaign has grown into a major support network across Yorkshire, the Tees Valley, and Merseyside.
