Ashbourne Law Firm Raises Over £70k in Will Aid Campaign

A law firm in Ashbourne has reached an incredible milestone by raising more than £70,000 through participation in an annual charity Will-writing campaign, which will help fund vital work in the UK and abroad.

Remarkable Achievement for Nigel Davis Solicitors

Nigel Davis Solicitors has taken part in the Will Aid campaign since 2010. Over the years, the firm has raised a grand total of £72,803 by volunteering their time and expertise throughout November. Instead of charging their usual fees, they invite clients to make an upfront donation to Will Aid. The money raised is shared among the campaign’s partner charities, which work across many different causes in the UK and across the world.

In 2025, Nigel Davis Solicitors raised an outstanding £12,900, making them the highest donating firm in the East Midlands.

Team Pride and Commitment

Marie Baggaley, from the firm, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have reached this milestone—supporting such important causes while helping our clients plan for the future makes it especially meaningful.

“Will Aid is something the whole team looks forward to each year. It’s a real collective effort, and this achievement reflects the time, care and commitment everyone puts in.

“Over the years, it’s been hugely rewarding to help so many people put the right plans in place, giving them confidence and peace of mind for the future.

“To know that, alongside this, we’ve raised funds that will make a genuine difference to people facing difficult circumstances, both here in the UK and around the world, makes it all the more worthwhile.”

Impact of Will Aid Campaign

The generosity of solicitors who have taken part in Will Aid since it launched in 1988 has helped raise more than £26 million for charity in donations alone, with many millions more in pledged charitable legacies.

Lauren Poole, Chair of Will Aid, said: “Congratulations to Nigel Davis Solicitors on reaching such a fantastic milestone. Support like this is vital to the continued success of Will Aid.

“It’s inspiring to see firms consistently giving their time and expertise, helping clients gain peace of mind while raising essential funds for our partner charities.

“On behalf of all the charities involved, thank you for your continued dedication and generosity.”

Peter de Vena Franks, Will Aid’s campaign director, added: “Reaching a milestone like this is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the ongoing commitment of the team at Nigel Davis Solicitors.

“Year after year, firms like Nigel Davis Solicitors play a crucial role in making Will Aid possible, supporting their communities while helping to generate vital funding for charities that are making a real difference.

“It’s this combination of professional expertise and genuine generosity that continues to drive the campaign forward and expand its impact.”

How Will Aid Works

Will Aid runs every November, offering people the opportunity to have a professionally written Will in exchange for a donation. The suggested donation is £120 for a single basic Will and £200 for a pair of basic mirror Wills. Proceeds support Will Aid’s partner charities: Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, SCIAF (Scotland), Trócaire (Northern Ireland), and—new for the 2025 campaign—Shelter and Crisis.
