Barratt Homes Donates £1,500 to Cat Rescue

A Northamptonshire charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming stray cats has received a £1,500 donation from Barratt Homes to support its vital work.

Donation to Cover Medical Costs

The contribution will directly help provide essential medical care for animals as the rescue faces increasing monthly veterinary bills. The charity was originally established in 2008 when staff at a local veterinary practice wanted to help the many stray cats being taken in. Rather than rely on already overstretched local rescues, the team stepped in to set up the dedicated volunteer-run group.

Focus on Prevention and Education

Now a registered charity, the organisation continues to rehome cats while focusing heavily on prevention and education to support responsible pet ownership.

Dawn Smith, from SAF Cat Rescue, said: “We were absolutely over the moon to receive this generous donation from Barratt Homes. We are a small, volunteer-based rescue, and this donation will really help ease the pressure on our fundraising efforts. Our monthly veterinary bills continue to rise, so this incredible support will directly help provide the essential medical care our stray cats urgently need.”

Community Fund Scheme

The contribution was made as part of a Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Redrow Foundation, which is run by parent company Barratt Redrow. The foundation is designed to support national and local charities across the UK to leave a lasting legacy in communities.

The Barratt Redrow Foundation is celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2026. Since its launch, the foundation has committed £20 million to charities and good causes, supporting more than 2,000 different organisations.
