Manchester's 2026 Christmas Tree Collection to Boost Hospice Funds
Book Your Manchester Christmas Tree Collection for Charity

As the festive decorations come down, residents across Greater Manchester can give their real Christmas trees a sustainable send-off while supporting vital local charities. Moya Cole Hospice has once again teamed up with the national charity Just Helping for its annual Christmas tree collection and recycling scheme.

How to Register for Tree Collection

Homeowners wishing to have their real tree collected and recycled can now register online at www.just-helping.org.uk/register-tree. In return for the service, donations are warmly welcomed to support the hospice's work. The deadline for registrations is 11.59pm on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Once registered, residents must leave their tree in a clearly visible spot at the front of their property by 8am on Friday, January 9, 2026, ensuring volunteers have easy access from the street.

A Campaign with Major Impact

The initiative, known as the Manchester Treecycle Appeal, makes a significant financial impact. The January 2025 collection raised an impressive £117,000 for Greater Manchester charities. Net proceeds are distributed between Moya Cole Hospice, Francis House Children’s Hospice, Just Helping, and other local causes.

Georgia Vacher, Manchester collection lead for Just Helping, expressed her enthusiasm: "I’m so excited for this year’s Manchester Treecycle Appeal! Every year, our lovely volunteers and supporters come together to make a real difference."

"Last year we collected 5309 trees and raised £117,000... With that incredible support behind us, 2026 is set to be our best year yet!" she added, praising the community's generosity.

Eco-Friendly Disposal and Vital Care

All collected trees are chipped by volunteers. The chippings are then repurposed for pathways and forest management in Wythenshawe Park, ensuring the trees serve an eco-friendly purpose after the holidays.

The funds raised are crucial for Moya Cole Hospice, which provides holistic, life-limiting illness care from its sites in Heald Green, Stockport and Little Hulton, Salford. Its services include inpatient care, day therapy, and community support like the Hospice at Home service in Salford and Trafford.

Gayle Shaw, Corporate Fundraiser at Moya Cole Hospice, highlighted the partnership's success: "Over the last ten years, Just Helping has helped raise more than £370,000 for Moya Cole Hospice through the Christmas Tree collection scheme."

She encouraged residents to take part, noting: "It is not too late to book a slot to have your Christmas tree collected right from your front door in the new year."
