Thrum Hall Methodist Church volunteers gave early-rising walkers a perfect send-off at Rochdale's annual Whitworth Skyline Walk by serving a hearty breakfast, raising £450 for Christian Aid. The initiative turned the morning meal into a fantastic fundraising boost.
Breakfast Stall Success
Church volunteers set up a stall along the 14-mile route, offering bacon butties and drinks to more than 500 participants. Diane Chadwick from the church said: “There is a local 14-mile skyline walk with over 500 walkers near where we live and we were able to set up a stall on the route to serve bacon butties and drinks for breakfast. It was a glorious day, and the walkers seemed very pleased with our efforts, and we raised £450 for Christian Aid.”
Community Engagement
Chadwick added: “We were very happy to be able to chat to people and to be the Church out in the community.” The church’s next Christian Aid fundraiser is a pamper session with afternoon tea on July 26.
