Clubbercise Marathon Raises £700 for Hospice

A nightclub-style dance marathon has raised £700 for East Cheshire Hospice, as fitness enthusiasts took part in a special Clubbercise event at Christ The King Primary School in Macclesfield. The three-hour workout, which combined aerobic, toning, and combat exercises, was organised by fitness instructor Lauren Knight to mark 10 years of her classes.

Event Details and Participants

A dozen energetic women, ranging from teenagers to those in their sixties, were put through their paces during the session. The event featured a club-like atmosphere with glow sticks and music, creating a unique fitness experience.

Organiser's Motivation

Lauren Knight said: “I wanted to mark the anniversary with an event and after a vote to decide the charity to support the Hospice was the unanimous winner. It's a great local cause and a lot of the participants in my classes have had friends and relatives looked after by the Hospice. I’ve also had someone cared for by them.”

Regular Classes and Community Impact

Lauren runs Clubbercise classes every Wednesday at All Saints Church and has a group at the Poynton Legion Club on Tuesdays. She described the workout as a full-body exercise to club anthems, conducted in the dark with glow sticks. “It was exhausting but enjoyable, especially because we were raising money for such a brilliant cause. Everyone entered into the spirit of the event,” she added.
