Three of Coronation Street's biggest stars swapped the cobbles for the golf course to host a brilliant charity event. Alan Halsall, Andy Whyment and Sam Aston brought plenty of laughs to Manchester for their annual fundraiser.
Sun-Soaked Day Raises Funds for Hospice
The sun-soaked day raised vital funds for Derian House Children's Hospice, which is based in Chorley. Friends, supporters and local businesses joined the soap trio for a wonderful day of golf and generosity. The fun-loving actors had guests in stitches after swapping their sports gear for Village People-inspired fancy dress. They even filmed a tongue-in-cheek performance of YMCA, with fellow golfers happily joining in the fun.
Gala Dinner and Auctions Boost Donations
The excitement continued into the evening as guests enjoyed a grand gala dinner packed with auctions and prizes. Supporters dug deep to help the hospice continue providing care to 400 babies, children and young people.
Andy Whyment said: “It was a beautiful day for raising funds for an incredible charity, while having an absolute blast.”
Sam Aston said: “It was a brilliant night and we felt honoured to be supporting such a worthy charity.” The popular trio's annual golf day has become a massive highlight in the local fundraising calendar. Over the years, the generous event has successfully raised tens of thousands of pounds for various charities.
Hospice Representatives Express Gratitude
Karen Smith from Derian House Children’s Hospice attended the special gala dinner following the golf fundraiser. She said: “The atmosphere was incredible – vibrant, uplifting and full of fun. But at its heart was something even more special: genuine compassion and humanity. Every laugh, every conversation and every bid made a difference. The support shown means Derian House can continue to be there for more children and families when they need us most, creating precious moments and providing expert care through the toughest of times. We are truly grateful to Alan, Andy and Sam, and everyone who took part.”
Kerry Salmon also joined the event to see the incredible community spirit in action. She said: "It was a pleasure to spend the day with Alan, Andy and Sam and everyone who came along to support Derian House. The event had such a brilliant atmosphere, and it was wonderful to see so many supporters getting behind the hospice. Their generosity will help us continue supporting children and families across the North West."
Charity's Annual Running Costs Reach £6 Million
The wonderful charity helps families from across the North West make the very most of every moment. While care is completely free to families, running the hospice will cost a huge £6m this year.
