Derbyshire Couple Run Wolf Run for Daughter Caitlin's Legacy
Couple Run Wolf Run for Daughter's Legacy

Sally and David Bird, from Tibshelf, Derbyshire, have completed the 10km Summer Wolf Run in Leicestershire, raising funds for Farms for City Children in memory of their daughter Caitlin, who died aged 13 after contracting Covid-19 in October 2020.

Couple’s Fundraising Journey

Since Caitlin’s death, the Birds have raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities she loved. Last year, they organised 18 events ahead of what would have been her 18th birthday, raising £29,630. Their efforts also support bereaved families and keep Caitlin’s memory alive.

Wolf Run Challenge

The Wolf Run, which combines trail running, mud runs, and obstacles, attracted over 7,000 participants across the Summer Wolf weekend. The event emphasizes teamwork and camaraderie rather than competition. For Sally and David, the finish line represents a personal mission to ensure Caitlin’s life continues to have a positive impact.

Inspired by Caitlin’s Love for Wolves

The couple chose the Wolf Run because wolves were Caitlin’s favourite animal. The event’s natural and man-made obstacles, including climbing, crawling, and wading, tested their determination.

Supporting Farms for City Children

Funds raised will support Farms for City Children, a charity that allows young people to live and work on real farms in Devon, Gloucestershire, and Pembrokeshire, building confidence, wellbeing, and life skills through outdoor experiences.
