Drug dealer told grieving family 'I still need to be paid' after mum's overdose
Drug dealer demanded payment after mum's overdose death

A grieving family was told by a drug dealer that he still needed to be paid after their loved one fatally overdosed on cocaine. Mandy Bond, a 41-year-old mother from Exeter, was found dead in her home on September 9, 2023. Police believe she would still be alive if she had not been given drugs.

Dealer's callous response

Reece Webb, 27, of Drum Way, Heathfield, provided cocaine to Ms Bond. When a family member called her phone, Webb answered and claimed she owed him £80. Shortly after, he called from a different number, saying Ms Bond owed him money for drugs and that he had taken her phone as payment. When told she had died, Webb replied: “I still need paying.”

Investigation and sentencing

Webb pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine. At Exeter Crown Court on Monday, April 20, he was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison. Police traced him to his home, where they found 26 watches believed to be from crime proceeds and multiple zip-lock bags with white substance residue. His phone contained messages consistent with drug supply. Webb admitted supplying Class A drugs to fund his own cocaine habit.

Police comment

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: “This is a tragic case and another stark reminder of the dangers of illegal drugs. Mandy Bond was loved by all who knew her and were it not for the drugs supplied by Reece Webb, she may still be here today. We will continue to target those who profit from the sale of illegal substances in an effort to bring them to justice and keep our communities safe.”
