Two men who were discovered hiding in a loft during a police raid on a cannabis farm in Staffordshire have been sentenced to prison.
Police Raid in Weston Coyney
Staffordshire Police executed a warrant at a property on Weston Road in Weston Coyney on October 22 last year. Upon forcing entry, officers uncovered a substantial cannabis cultivation operation containing approximately 618 plants.
The two suspects, Thanh Duong, 38, and Duong Van Nguyen, 45, both of no fixed address, were found concealed in the loft space of the building.
Court Proceedings
Both men appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Monday, May 11, where they were sentenced after pleading guilty to conspiracy to produce cannabis, a class B drug, at an earlier hearing. Duong received a prison term of 14 months, while Nguyen was sentenced to 12 months.
Police Statement
Following the sentencing, Chief Inspector Laura Davies commented: “Cannabis grows are often linked with serious criminal networks and usually involve the exploitation of vulnerable people. I am glad that we were able to disrupt the cultivation and supply of cannabis in the area after acting on the concerns of local people. We will continue to act on intelligence and target drug supply in Stoke-on-Trent and wider Staffordshire.”
The police operation underscores the ongoing efforts to tackle drug-related crime in the region, with community intelligence playing a key role in identifying illegal activities.
