Family and Friends Raise Over £4,000 for Withybush Hospital ICU in Tribute to Henry Coles
In a heartfelt tribute to her late husband, Henry Coles, Vicki Coles, along with her family and friends, has successfully raised an incredible £4,003.83 for the Critical Care Unit (ICU) at Withybush Hospital. Henry sadly passed away in March 2024, and this fundraising effort represents the family's second initiative to give back to the unit that provided exceptional care during his time in hospital.
Diverse Fundraising Activities Throughout 2025
Throughout the year 2025, Vicki and her supporters organised a variety of engaging fundraising activities to reach their goal. These included a charity wax event, a raffle, and a charity night held at The Bull in Haverfordwest. Additionally, friends participated in both the Llanelli Half Marathon and the Cardiff Half Marathon, contributing significantly to the total amount raised.
Gratitude from Hospital Staff and Fundraising Officers
Kim Goodall, senior sister at the ICU, expressed deep appreciation, stating: "Thank you very much to Vicki and everyone involved for helping to raise an incredible £4,000 in 2025 for the ICU. This is a wonderful tribute to Henry. The funds are gratefully received and will make a meaningful difference to our work on the unit. Thank you!"
Katie Hancock, fundraising officer, added: "Thank you to Vicki, and to your family and friends, for raising such an incredible amount for the ICU at Withybush Hospital. This is a truly lovely tribute to Henry. We hope you find comfort in knowing that your support will make a meaningful difference to the patients, families, and staff on the ICU. The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda, and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive."
Impact on Local Healthcare Services
This fundraising initiative highlights the vital role of community support in enhancing healthcare services. The funds raised will directly benefit patients, families, and staff at the ICU, ensuring that additional resources are available beyond standard NHS provisions. The effort underscores the power of collective action in making a positive impact during difficult times.
