Glitz and Glamour, a local charity based in Ashbourne, is dedicated to raising funds for The Derby Breast Test Appeal and The Gynae Cancer Research Funds for the Derby and Burton Hospitals. This year, the charity will host its annual sponsored walk on June 7, starting from The Royal Oak in Mayfield (time to be confirmed).
Medical Professionals Join the Cause
Breast surgeon and consultant Mark Sibbering, along with gynae surgeon and consultant Anish Bali, will be participating in the walk. They will be joined by breast nurses, oncologists, and radiographers, all committed to supporting this vital fundraising effort.
Impressive Fundraising Goals
Last year, 200 participants walked 26 miles, with some covering 13 miles through the beautiful Peak District, raising an impressive £76,000. This year, the charity aims to surpass that achievement, with 300 walkers expected to take part and a target of £100,000 in donations.
In a show of community support, eight local firefighters will walk the entire route in full kit. Additionally, the walk has been granted approval for a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, scheduled for around 4pm over the finish line.
