Glyn Abbey Golf Club’s annual Dai Gravell charity golf day has raised an impressive £2,846.40 for cardiology services at Glangwili Hospital. The club chose to support the cardiology department after several members and staff benefited from outstanding care provided by the team.
Event Highlights
The golf day brought members together for a full day of activities and community spirit. The event centered around a round of golf, with participants contributing through entry fees and on-course challenges. Off the course, members enjoyed a shared meal, while additional funds were raised through a well-supported raffle and auction, featuring a range of generously donated prizes.
Chipping Contest Adds Fun
One of the highlights of the day was the club’s much-loved chipping contest, which added a fun and competitive element while further boosting the total raised. The combination of sport, socialising, and fundraising made it a fantastic and memorable event for everyone involved.
Community Spirit and Gratitude
Rachel Lawrence, member of Glyn Abbey Golf Club, said: "This event represents a meaningful opportunity for the club to give back and show its gratitude for the dedication and expertise of the Cardiology Team. The fundraising was a fantastic success and a thoroughly enjoyable experience for everyone involved. It was great fun from start to finish, bringing members together in a really positive and energetic atmosphere. There was a real sense of enthusiasm and teamwork throughout, and it was incredibly rewarding to see so many people getting involved and supporting such a worthwhile cause. Overall, it was a brilliant day that combined fun, community spirit, and a shared desire to give something back."
Record-Breaking Success
Lawrence added: "We raised more than £2,400 on the day, significantly exceeding all expectations. This made it one of the most successful Dai Gravell Charity Days in the club’s history, reflecting the fantastic support and generosity shown by members and participants throughout the event." Thanks were extended to greens staff, bar and kitchen staff, management and members, with a special thanks to Vice Captain Lee Harries for his outstanding work and drive as the organiser of the Dai Gravell day.
Fundraising Officer's Appreciation
Claire Rumble, fundraising officer, commented: "We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone at Glyn Abbey Golf Club for their incredible support. The effort that went into organising the day, along with the generosity shown by all those involved, is truly appreciated. The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive."
