East Lancashire's Winter Coat Drive Collects Hundreds for Vulnerable
Hundreds of coats donated to East Lancashire's needy

A major community initiative in East Lancashire has successfully concluded, having gathered hundreds of warm coats for those most in need during the colder months. The Wrap up East Lancashire project ran throughout October, aiming to provide a vital layer of warmth to individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.

A Community-Wide Effort

The project was spearheaded by Rossendale Rotary, which placed collection boxes in numerous accessible locations across the region. Donation points included local Tesco supermarkets, as well as community groups, churches, schools, and scout groups. One such collection point was pictured at the Crawshawbooth Community Association.

This strategic placement made it easy for residents to contribute, resulting in an overwhelming response from the public. The initiative specifically targeted support for local charities that aid a wide range of vulnerable people.

Who Benefits from the Donations?

The hundreds of coats collected are now on their way to making a real difference. After the boxes were gathered, they were transported to Clitheroe for sorting and distribution. The garments will be channelled through charities that support several key groups.

These include recently released prisoners seeking to rebuild their lives, vulnerable and abused women and children in crisis, the homeless population, and struggling veterans who have served their country.

Looking Ahead and Getting Involved

Rossendale Rotary has expressed its grateful thanks to all who contributed to the initiative, which will directly improve the lives of many hundreds of people in East Lancashire. The success of the coat drive highlights the power of community action.

For those inspired by this project, Rossendale Rotary is actively seeking new members. The organisation invites individuals to use their time, talents, skills, and energy to improve lives both in the local community and further afield.
