Lost League of Gentlemen Props Unearthed for Charity Raffle
Fans of the iconic cult comedy The League of Gentlemen have an extraordinary opportunity to acquire a genuine piece of television history. Stars Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith made a remarkable discovery when they found a long-lost suitcase packed with original props from both the 2000 and 2018 live stage performances.
A Treasure Trove of Iconic Memorabilia
Hidden away for over twenty years, the suitcase contained a collection of beloved items that helped define the award-winning series. Rather than retaining these treasures for themselves, Steve and Reece have decided to raffle off the entire collection to generate funds for charitable causes in the North West region.
As a dedicated ambassador for Derian House, Steve Pemberton has committed that half of the proceeds will be directed to the Chorley-based children's hospice. The remaining funds will benefit Aim Higher, a charity based in Hull.
Iconic Items from Royston Vasey
Among the significant props uncovered were:
- Mick McNamara's distinctive helmet and torch
- Steve Pemberton's Hamlet football scarf from the 2000 live shows
- Herr Lipp's infamous sausage prop
These items played crucial roles in bringing the fictional town of Royston Vasey to life, making them highly coveted by dedicated fans of the series.
Personal Connection to Derian House
"I grew up very close to the site where Derian House now stands," explained Steve Pemberton. "In fact, I used to play football on the field beside where the hospice is now located."
The BAFTA Award-winning actor and producer continued: "Derian House is well known in the area and nationally for providing the very best care for children and their families – and I am very proud to support everything they do."
Steve has been a long-standing supporter of Derian House, which provides care for approximately 400 families each year. He has made numerous generous donations to the charity over the years and serves as an executive producer for the Derian House documentary, The Little Things, available on Amazon Prime in both the UK and the US.
Raffle Details and How to Participate
In a recent social media announcement, Reece Shearsmith shared: "Steve and I recently found loads of props from our first 'League of Gentlemen' tour, including Mick the cave guide's helmet and torch, and Herr Lipp's sausage! We are raffling them, with more to come, and proceeds will go to Derian House in Lancashire and Aim Higher in Hull."
The raffle will remain open until Saturday, February 28, 2026, concluding at 9:00 PM. This unique opportunity allows participants the chance to own authentic pieces of comedy history while supporting two important charitable organizations.
