Leeds Baby Bank Pram Crisis Solved by Community Donations
Leeds Baby Bank Pram Crisis Solved by Community Donations

Families across Leeds have rallied together to support Leeds Baby Bank following an urgent appeal for essential baby equipment. The charity confirmed that the response from the community has been so significant that every family currently on their waiting list for a newborn or expectant baby has now been provided with a pram. More than 10 families were struggling to afford the equipment before the public stepped in to help.

Volunteers at Work

Volunteers, including Kelsey and Maya, are currently busy cleaning and vacuuming the latest influx of donations at the charity's hub. Every family supported by the organisation is referred by health or social care professionals to ensure the items reach those living in poverty.

Spokesperson's Thanks

Sarah, spokesperson for Leeds Baby Bank, said: "Thanks to supporters all over our city, we have received lots of prams! So many, in fact, that we have been able to give a pram to every family who has a newborn or a baby due soon and needs a pram but is unable to afford one."

She continued: "This isn't just a nice-to-have. Prams help families get out and about, attend appointments for the health of mum and baby, get exercise and fresh air and - crucially - help end isolation. Thank you from all the families we've been able to help."

New Appeal for Highchairs

With the pram shortage resolved, the team is now turning its attention to another essential item. Sarah added: "Now we wonder if the people of Leeds might have a highchair or two they no longer need!"

How to Help

Donations can be dropped off at the Leeds Baby Bank hub near Armley Gyratory. Residents are encouraged to visit the charity's website to book a drop-off time or email the team on admin@leedsbabybank.org, if they are unable to travel to the site. Those without items to donate can still support the cause through an online donation or by purchasing items from the charity's Amazon wish list.
