A popular Leicester charity shop has opened the doors to an exciting new home this week. The much-loved Spiral Scratch store has officially reopened following a move to larger premises on Queens Road. The specialist music shop has moved from number 63 to number 85 on the busy shopping street.
As part of the project, the nearby LOROS bookshop will now relocate into the former music shop premises. This means the two popular community shops have effectively swapped locations to give customers a fresh experience. The bookshop is set to undergo a small refurbishment in the coming weeks before welcoming shoppers back.
The big move gives the music shop much more space for musical instruments, vinyl records and CDs. An additional upstairs room will also provide volunteers with a dedicated area to repair and restore items. The team will use the space to fix gaming equipment and musical instruments, helping to save items from landfill. This will also give local shoppers even more unique and interesting finds to buy.
Customers will still be able to try out records in the shop’s popular listening booth, which was a much-loved feature from the original store. All of the money raised through the shops will go directly towards supporting a vital local cause.
Matt Gale, Shop Manager at Spiral Scratch said: “Spiral Scratch has become a community hub for music and tech lovers. We’re excited to welcome customers to our larger new home, where there’s even more to discover. Every donation and purchase helps raise vital funds for LOROS Hospice, supporting patients and their families when they need us most.”
The new music shop officially welcomed its first customers back through the doors on June 18, 2026.
