Liverpool Firm Raises £110k for NHS Charities

A Liverpool engineering firm has raised a staggering £110,000 to support three local NHS charities. Sutcliffe hosted its annual Spring Charity Ball at the Titanic Hotel on April 24, 2026, bringing together partners and the city's business community. The record-breaking total will benefit the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, Liverpool Women's Hospital Charity, and University Hospitals of Liverpool Charity.

This year's event exceeded all expectations, bringing the total amount raised for the NHS by the firm to over £320,000. Funds for the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity will help patients overcome financial and practical barriers to completing their chemotherapy and radiotherapy. At Liverpool Women’s Hospital, the donations will fund advanced research to improve care for babies who need specialist support in the neonatal unit. The money will also support the Health and Hope Campaign, providing vital help for patients and staff at the Aintree Major Trauma Centre.

The evening included a touching tribute to the late Sue Wright, whose personal journey inspired a significant donation from Home Bargains. Faisal Arif, Sue’s partner, shared memories of her kindness and the lasting impact she made on those around her. The event was made possible by several local sponsors, including headline supporter Austin Wilkinson Demolition.

Sutcliffe has a long history of working on healthcare buildings across the Northwest and views this charity work as a natural extension of its role. Sean Keyes from Sutcliffe said: "Every year I come away from the Spring Ball genuinely moved by the generosity of the people in the construction industry. Our clients, partners and friends across the industry give their time, their money and their enthusiasm to causes that matter enormously to the lives of ordinary people in this city, and that is something we take real pride in."

Keyes added: "Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, Liverpool Women's Hospital Charity and University Hospitals of Liverpool Charity are doing vital, often invisible work to ensure patients receive the best possible care and that NHS staff have the support they need to keep them going through tough times. Sutcliffe has deep roots in healthcare construction across the Northwest, and these partnerships feel like a natural extension of the responsibility we feel towards the communities we serve. I am extremely proud of what we achieved together on the night."

The firm believes its responsibility extends beyond building structures to supporting the people who depend on them. This record sum will ensure that local hospitals can continue to provide exceptional care and support for families throughout the region.
