Local residents are being invited to come together for reflection and remembrance as two special fundraising events prepare to take place.
Memory Walk in Ilford
Following the success of previous years, Saint Francis Hospice will host a Memory Walk in Valentine’s Park, Ilford, for the first time on Sunday, June 28. This will be followed by the return of the much-loved Romford event, which heads to Raphael’s Park for its third year on Sunday, September 6.
Both events offer a meaningful opportunity for people of all ages to celebrate the lives of loved ones or show support for the charity. The hospice provides care to thousands of people and their families every year.
Event Highlights
The Ilford event will feature a mix of music, entertainment and a mini food festival celebrating global flavours. Meanwhile, the walk at Raphael’s Park will offer a community feel with craft stalls and live entertainment. All participants will receive event T-shirts or lanyards, with medals awarded at the finish line.
Every penny raised helps ensure the hospice can continue to be there for those who need it most. The charity provides free, specialist palliative and end-of-life care to people with illnesses that cannot be cured.
Organiser’s Comments
Charlotte Winder, events manager at Saint Francis Hospice, said: "Our Memory Walks are truly special days, bringing people together to remember loved ones while supporting their local hospice. We’re so proud to be expanding into Redbridge this year with our first ever walk in Valentine’s Park, as well as welcoming people back to Raphael’s Park for our third annual event. Whether you’re walking in memory of someone close to you or simply want to support your local hospice, every step makes a difference. We’d love as many people as possible to join us."
The hospice relies heavily on the generosity of the community, as only around 30 per cent of its funding comes from the government. By taking part, supporters ensure expert care remains available for everyone who needs it.
