Midland Pub Closes Over Heatwave: 'We Have to Look After Staff'
Midland Pub Closes Over Heatwave: Staff Welfare First

The Jubilee Inn, a pub in the Warwickshire village of Studley, has announced a temporary closure due to the UK heatwave, citing extreme temperatures in the kitchen and a commitment to staff welfare. The decision, announced on social media, comes as June 24 marks the hottest June day on record in the UK.

Pub's Announcement and Closure Details

In a Facebook post, The Jubilee Inn stated: "The Jubilee will close at 5pm today (June 24) and will be closed all day tomorrow (June 25). Phew… it’s an absolute scorcher this week and we have to look after our staff and their health and well being. Temperatures in the kitchen reached extreme levels today so we have made the very difficult decision to close early today at 5pm and we will be closed all day on Thursday." The pub added that reopening on Friday will depend on weather conditions, with a review scheduled for the day.

Positive Reaction from Patrons

The closure was met with unanimous support from customers. One patron commented: "Love it when bosses look after the welfare of their staff." Another wrote: "Well done guys. It's a hard decision to make but well-done for looking after your staff." A third added: "Thanks guys, wish all bosses were as considerate." The pub expressed hope for a return to normal operations by the weekend, noting: "Roll on the weekend when temperatures are back to a much more manageable level. We can all get out and enjoy our fabulous garden, the beer, the football and a fantastic weekend at The Jube."
