Mold Fire Station Crew Generates £4,500 for Local Charities Through Annual Bonfire Event

The dedicated crew from Mold Fire Station has successfully raised an impressive £4,500 for vital good causes following their annual bonfire and fireworks display. This popular community event, held at Mold Alex Football Club, received strong public support, highlighting the local commitment to charitable efforts.

Fundraising Success and Beneficiary Recognition

Each year, the display is organized to raise funds for selected charities, supporting their essential work within the local community. In a recent ceremony at Mold Fire Station, Chief Fire Officer Dawn Docx celebrated the crew's efforts during the 2025 bonfire season, acknowledging their dedication and hard work.

The Wales Air Ambulance was delighted to attend the ceremony and receive a cheque for £1,500. Other beneficiaries included North East Wales Search and Rescue (NEWSAR) and the Stroke Rehabilitation Centre at Deeside Community Hospital. The crew chose the Wales Air Ambulance as a beneficiary after collaborating with the service on several incidents throughout the year.

Wales Air Ambulance: A Lifesaving Service

Wales Air Ambulance operates as a consultant-led service, delivering hospital-standard treatments directly to patients and transferring them to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury. This charity relies on public donations to raise the £13 million required annually to maintain its helicopters and rapid response vehicles.

Delivered through a unique partnership between the third and public sectors, the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners. These professionals provide advanced care, including administering anaesthesia, delivering blood transfusions, and conducting minor operations at incident scenes. As a pan-Wales service, crews travel extensively to deliver emergency lifesaving care across the country.

Gratitude from Charity Representatives

Debra Sima, regional fundraising manager at the Wales Air Ambulance Charity, expressed her appreciation: "I was delighted to attend the recent event and meet Chief Fire Officer Dawn Docx and the wonderful crew at Mold Fire Station, where we received a cheque of £1,500. The crew do a fantastic job every year organizing a bonfire and fireworks display to keep the public safe, while raising funds for three important causes. We're extremely grateful to have been chosen as a beneficiary. The Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £13 million every year to continue serving the people of Wales. Every pound donated makes a lifesaving difference. Diolch yn fawr pawb!"

This event underscores the powerful impact of community-driven initiatives in supporting critical services and enhancing local well-being.
