Freeview Undergoes Major Channel Shake-Up This Week
A significant reshuffle has hit Freeview this week, resulting in the removal of two television channels and the relocation of another. The changes, which took effect on February 18th, 2026, are part of the platform's regular refresh and require viewers to retune their TVs to maintain access to updated channel listings.
Kids' Channel YAAAS Axed from Freeview Lineup
The popular children's streaming service YAAAS has been axed from Freeview, where it was previously available on channel 211 (Freely 358). It now operates as a sub-service on Ketchup Too, which remains on channel 210. Freeview has confirmed that YAAAS continues to be accessible as a standalone service on other platforms, including Samsung TV Plus.
New Channel Launch and Replacement
In other developments, Wedotv Big Stories has launched as a new free channel on Freeview channel 275. This channel specializes in documentaries and factual entertainment, featuring content such as wilderness survival and real-life investigations. It replaces Wedotv Movies on channel 275, marking the second channel scrapped in this shake-up and eliminating a duplication of the movie channel.
Wedotv Movies continues to be available exclusively on channel 98 in certain parts of the UK, where it operates as a traditional broadcast linear TV channel. Both Wedotv Movies (channel 98) and Wedotv Big Stories (channel 275) have limited UK coverage via Freeview, being accessible only in areas currently or previously served by a local TV service.
Great! TV Relocates to New Channel Number
Additionally, Great! TV has undergone a shake-up and is now broadcasting on channel 795. This move is part of the broader adjustments made by individual channel providers on the Freeview platform.
Freeview's Statement and Viewer Guidance
Freeview has addressed the changes in an FAQ section on its website, stating: "Channels continue to evolve on Freeview with individual channel providers making the decision to move, add, or remove channels. Freeview continues to ensure that audiences can enjoy a rich and varied content offering."
Viewers across the UK are urged to retune their televisions to update their channel guides and ensure they do not miss out on available content. The platform emphasizes that these updates are necessary to keep the TV Guide current and maintain access to all channels.
