Mother to Run London 10k Day Before Baby Son's Next Surgery at GOSH
Mother Runs London 10k Day Before Baby's Surgery

A mother whose baby son's life was saved by a specialist hospital is set to tackle a major running event just one day before his next surgery. Molly Gurr, 29, from Kings Langley in Hertfordshire, will run the iconic central London race this Sunday to support Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. Her 11-month-old son Rory was referred to the hospital when he was just five hours old and has undergone multiple operations during his short life.

Timing of the Run Holds Deep Significance

The timing of the event holds massive significance for the family as they prepare for the next stage of their medical journey. Just one day after crossing the finish line, the family will return to the wards for the little boy's next scheduled operation. Molly said: "I'm taking part in this run because Great Ormond Street Hospital has been a huge part of mine, my partner's and our little boy Rory's lives since he was just five hours old. GOSH saved our little boy's life."

Gratitude for the Medical Team

Molly expressed deep gratitude for the care her son has received. "They gave him his stoma, and throughout every stage of his ongoing surgeries they have never left our side. We couldn't ask for a more caring, supportive surgical team. They have supported not only Rory, but also me and my partner every step of the way."

The London 10k Route

The central London running event takes participants on a closed-road route through the heart of the capital city. Thousands of runners pass famous landmarks including Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, and the London Eye to raise money for good causes. The upcoming challenge represents far more than a simple race for the local family. Every mile completed will act as a personal thank you to the dedicated medical team that continues to support them.

Next Surgery Looms

Molly added: "The day after the Saucony London 10k we'll be back at GOSH for the next stage of Rory's surgery journey. It feels like such an honour to represent the hospital that has helped us raise our beautiful, happy little boy."
