Rotary Club Offers £2,000 in Community Chest Grants

The Llandudno Rotary Club is calling on community organisations across the region to apply for a portion of £2,000 as part of its 2026 Community Chest Awards scheme. This initiative aims to distribute the total sum to local voluntary and community groups that are making a positive impact on people's lives.

Grant Details and Eligibility

Individual awards ranging from £100 to £500 are available to support specific projects, activities, equipment purchases, or community initiatives. Applications are now being accepted from organisations based in Llandudno, Penrhyn Bay, Deganwy, Llandudno Junction, and Glan Conwy. The deadline for submissions is July 31, with successful applicants receiving their payments in August.

The scheme is open to a wide variety of voluntary organisations, including youth groups, community associations, welfare organisations, environmental projects, sports clubs, arts groups, and charities that support vulnerable individuals.

President's Remarks

Sarah Lesiter-Burgess, president of Llandudno Rotary Club, stated: "The Community Chest is one of the most rewarding initiatives we run each year because it enables us to support the local organisations and volunteers who work to improve the lives of others. We know that even small grants can make a real difference, whether that's helping to buy equipment, fund an activity, or support a community project. We encourage any eligible group across our area to apply and tell us how a Community Chest award could help them continue their valuable work."

Application Process and Past Success

The Community Chest is designed to provide straightforward, accessible funding for local groups, featuring a simple online application process and prompt decision-making. Over the last two years, 34 organisations applied for support, with 14 receiving awards. The Llandudno Rotary Club raises the funds through various community fundraising activities throughout the year, including collections, raffles, sales of homemade items, sponsored events, and donations from local supporters.
