Sue Clifford Embarks on 100km February Challenge for Moya Cole Hospice
My name is Sue Clifford, and I am thrilled to be participating in the Moya Cole Hospice 100km in February challenge. This engaging Facebook initiative is dedicated to raising crucial funds for the hospice, building on my positive experience from last year's Walk 100 Miles in September event. The supportive online community truly enhanced that previous challenge, making it a standout success.
From Casual Walks to Purposeful Strides
I initially signed up for the September challenge on a whim, thinking, 'why not?' As a regular walker, especially with our new puppy Stella keeping me active, it seemed like a perfect fit. Committing to such a worthy cause was an easy decision. My weekday routine transformed into a walking trifecta: a morning stroll before work, a brisk lunchtime loop, and an evening walk after finishing for the day. Weekends became opportunities for longer walks with my husband Andy, adding extra purpose to our usual outings.
The Power of Community and Motivation
Seeing donations pour in provided an incredible boost to my motivation. The physical benefits were equally rewarding, with the extra steps significantly improving my health and overall well-being. The Facebook group proved to be the cherry on top, fostering fun conversations, sharing stunning photos, and offering plenty of encouragement. Participants from holiday destinations posted gorgeous updates of their miles, creating a sense of a close-knit walking family cheering each other on.
Achievements and Future Goals
By the end of the September challenge, I successfully raised £176.80 for Moya Cole Hospice. Now, I am preparing for the February challenge, which requires walking approximately 2.25 miles per day (or 5,208 steps) to reach the 100km target. If you are considering joining, I wholeheartedly encourage you to take part. It supports an amazing cause, helps countless people, and keeps you fit in the process.
