Lancashire residents living with dementia are set to benefit from £2,000 raised by Tesco staff and customers. Stores across east Lancashire organised an afternoon tea fundraiser at Haslingden Cricket Club in aid of Beacon Dementia and Wellbeing. The charity supports those living with dementia, their carers and families in the local area.
Community Spirit Shines at Fundraiser
Tesco donated the food, which was kindly prepared by Relish in Haslingden, while Bury Hospice provided tableware, and local businesses contributed a range of raffle prizes. “The afternoon tea was a wonderful event filled with music, dancing and laughter,” said Tesco community champion Wendy Howarth. “It brought people together and showcased the incredible spirit of the local community, while raising money for a cause that means so much to so many. What a truly special day.”
Special Guests and Entertainment
Special guests included Councillor Michelle Smith, The Worshipful Mayor of Rossendale, alongside the Mayor of Hyndburn, Cllr Josh Allen, and Mayoress Robyn. Entertainment was provided by the Rossendale Male Voice Choir and the Rossendale Ukulele Band.
“We are delighted to help such a worthwhile cause,” said Claire de Silva from Tesco. “Tesco is committed to supporting communities and charities throughout the country with fundraising initiatives like this one that create a lasting positive impact for residents.”
