Lancashire residents with Down's syndrome are set to benefit from improved facilities and increased support, thanks to a £1,500 donation from Tesco staff and customers. Four Tesco stores in the region organized a series of joint fundraising events to support the vital work of the East Lancashire Down's Syndrome Support Group.

Support for Individuals and Families
The East Lancashire Down's Syndrome Support Group offers support to individuals with Down's syndrome and their families. Its primary goal is to help people with Down's syndrome lead fulfilling lives and reach their full potential. The charity provides a variety of activities and services, including family support from diagnosis, social events, and education services, all aimed at improving opportunities and inclusion within the wider community.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Tesco for their generosity in helping us continue delivering these essential services,” said Rachel Shatliff, from the East Lancashire Down's Syndrome Support Group. “This funding will go directly towards our social activities and education support, helping to increase awareness and ensure everyone has the support they need. As a volunteer-led charity, donations like this are vital to help make sure that all individuals with Down’s Syndrome and their families have access to understanding, guidance, and community support, from diagnosis through to adulthood.”
Community Spirit Praised
Tesco Community Champion, Wendy Howarth, said: “We are really pleased to support the East Lancashire Down's Syndrome Support Group, which unites our communities with strength and compassion. It's overwhelming to see everyone take pleasure in celebrating inclusivity and enjoying unforgettable moments, and we're thrilled with the money we've raised. The strong dedication and generosity of our local groups, colleagues and customers are the real sources of the achievement. We are so grateful for the opportunity to play a part in bringing our community together and making a positive difference to lives in Lancashire.”
