A Nottingham woman is preparing to face her biggest fear by taking part in a skydive to raise funds for the Thin Blue Paw Foundation. Wendy Green, 56, will take on the challenge on May 7, despite being afraid of flying, in support of the charity which helps care for retired police dogs across the UK.
Inspired by Her Retired Police Dog
Wendy was inspired to fundraise after adopting retired police dog Drax, a German Shepherd who served with Nottinghamshire Police before retiring early due to anxiety. Drax now lives with Wendy, who says he has had a huge impact on her life. She described him as her 'best friend' and said caring for him, despite some challenges, has been incredibly rewarding.
Supporting the Thin Blue Paw Foundation
The Thin Blue Paw Foundation provides financial support for veterinary treatment, medication and rehabilitation for retired police dogs, many of whom face health issues after years of service. Wendy said taking on the skydive is a way to give back and support other dogs like Drax, while also pushing herself to overcome her fears.
The charity has supported hundreds of retired police dogs and awarded more than £400,000 in grants since it was founded.
