Cirencester Community Awards Return to Celebrate Local Heroes This Spring
Cirencester's much-loved Community Awards are set to make a vibrant return this spring, offering an uplifting evening of celebration, live entertainment, and heartfelt recognition for the people and organisations that make the town such a connected and lively place. Organised by Cirencester Radio in partnership with the Cirencester Community Development Trust (CCDT), the awards shine a spotlight on the volunteers, neighbours, community groups, and unsung champions whose dedication and hard work fortify the town's strong sense of community and belonging.
Event Details and Highlights
This year's ceremony will take place on April 27 at Cirencester Baptist Church, promising to be a joyful community gathering from start to finish. The event is completely free to attend, but attendees must book their tickets in advance to secure a spot. The evening will be led by Richard Bradley, Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, marking the second consecutive year of Lieutenancy support for this cherished local event.
Richard Bradley was appointed Vice Lord-Lieutenant by His Majesty The King in April 2025, following an extensive and distinguished career in public service that includes roles with Gloucestershire Constabulary, local government, and as chief executive of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner. Carole Boydell from Cirencester Radio commented on his involvement, stating, "His extensive experience in supporting community-based projects makes his participation in the awards especially meaningful and impactful for our town."
Entertainment and Activities
Guests will be warmly welcomed by Cirencester's Town Crier, setting a lively and celebratory tone for the evening. Before the main ceremony begins, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the Community Market Place located in the café area of the Baptist Church. This showcase will feature a variety of local organisations and initiatives, providing a glimpse into the diverse community efforts that enrich Cirencester.
The evening will open with captivating performances from two talented musical groups:
- The Tutti Flutti Flute Choir – a community ensemble comprising around twelve players of all ages, led by Clemency. They will perform as guests transition from the Market Place into the Main Hall, adding a melodic touch to the proceedings.
- The Alex Steele Trio – fresh from their performances at the well-established Cirencester Jazz Club, this group will bring professional flair and energetic rhythms to kick off the celebration in style.
