Woolly tribute for Valerie Hawes

The knitters in Great Glen have been working hard to produce the tribute for Valerie Hawes, who was invited to a garden party at Buckingham Palace. At eighty-nine years old, Mrs Hawes is still a member of the parish council and visits a local school every week to hear the children read.

Community spirit during pandemic

During the pandemic, she and her husband frequently volunteered to deliver items to those unable to leave their homes, despite many of those they helped being much younger than themselves.
