Twelve local community groups are celebrating after securing a share of funding to support their vital work across the area. The financial boost was awarded through a popular annual grant scheme designed to help small organisations expand their activities.
Grant Scheme Details
Organised by Llandudno Rotary, the initiative allows local groups to apply online for cash sums ranging between £100 and £500. Five club members formed an adjudication panel earlier this month to carefully review every application before selecting the final winners. The chosen causes include youth sailing schemes, environmental teams, elderly transport services, and community dance groups.
Recipients and Awards
Conwy County Sea Cadets received £200 to help young people aged 10 to 17 learn about water safety, swimming, and sailing. The Llandudno Tidy Team secured £500 to purchase three new litter trolleys and long-handled scrapers for local clean-up events. A grant of £500 was awarded to the Fit and Fed Holiday Club to provide free meals and physical activities for struggling families.
Clwb Yr Efail received £400 to help pay for transport so isolated, housebound, and elderly members can attend weekly gatherings. Local dance group Fun Fit and Fabulous was granted £400 to buy tap shoes and simple performance costumes for charitable shows in care homes.
Rotary President's Comments
Llandudno Rotary President Sarah Lesiter-Burgess said: “This is an excellent example of how we use our fundraising efforts throughout the year to help the local community.” She added: “We have been able to help 25 local organisations in this way since 2023 and we’re already raising funds for next year’s Awards.”
