Amazon Shoppers Warned: Three Products Recalled Over Choking and Toxic Metal Hazards
Amazon Recalls Three Products Over Choking and Toxic Metal Hazards

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued urgent recalls for three products sold on Amazon, citing choking risks from small parts and toxic levels of cadmium. The items—Dinosaur Party Favours, Christmas Squishy Toys, and Silver Snake Rings—were all manufactured in China and have been removed from the marketplace.

Dinosaur Party Favours Pose Choking Danger

The Dinosaur Party Favours, which include small eggs and plastic toys, failed safety tests because the components fit entirely within a small parts cylinder, making them a choking hazard for children under 36 months. OPSS noted that the eggs resemble foil-wrapped chocolate, increasing the risk of ingestion. The product does not comply with the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011. Amazon has removed the listing, and OPSS advises consumers to stop using the product immediately and contact the distributor for redress.

Christmas Squishy Toys Also Recalled

Similarly, the Christmas Squishy Toys were found to contain small parts that fit within a small parts cylinder, posing a choking risk to young children. OPSS stated that the product fails to meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011. Consumers are urged to cease use and keep the toys away from children.

Silver Snake Rings Contain Toxic Cadmium

The Silver Snake Rings were rejected at the border after testing revealed excessive concentrations of cadmium, a toxic heavy metal. Cadmium exposure can cause serious health issues, including kidney damage and bone fragility. The product presents a serious chemical risk and was not allowed to enter the market.

OPSS Advice for Consumers

OPSS recommends that anyone who purchased these items stop using them immediately and keep them out of reach of children. Buyers should contact the distributor they purchased from to request a refund or other redress. Amazon has cooperated by removing the listings. No injuries have been reported to date, but the recalls are a precautionary measure to prevent harm.
