Bartley Green Stabbing Suspect Bailed with Strict Conditions

An 18-year-old man arrested after a 17-year-old was stabbed outside shops in Bartley Green has been released on bail with strict conditions, West Midlands Police confirmed. The victim was attacked near Loppy's Fish Bar and a convenience store on Jiggins Lane at around 5:40 PM on Wednesday, July 1.

Victim Hospitalised with Serious Injuries

The teenager was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after receiving advanced trauma care at the scene. Police said the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. The suspect was initially arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and was later bailed pending further inquiries.

Police Appeal for Information

West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with doorbell or dashcam footage to come forward. A force spokesperson said: "The person arrested in connection with this incident has been bailed with strict conditions while our investigation continues." Officers are conducting CCTV enquiries in the area.

Earlier, the force stated: "We were called to reports of a disorder and a stabbing on Jiggins Lane, Birmingham, shortly before 5.40pm. One man was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries which thankfully were not serious. An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and remains in custody."

Ambulance Service Response

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports of a stabbing on Genners Lane in Bartley Green. One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a man with serious injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening. He received advanced trauma care at the scene before being conveyed to hospital for further treatment."
