Bearwood Road Closed After Fight Injures Three Men

Bearwood High Street Sealed Off Following Violent Disorder

A significant section of Bearwood High Street remains closed to traffic and pedestrians this evening after a serious altercation resulted in three men being injured. West Midlands Police were called to reports of disorder in the Bearwood area shortly before 6pm on Wednesday, February 11th.

Injuries and Hospital Admissions

One man was transported to hospital via ambulance directly from the scene. Subsequently, two additional victims presented themselves at a local hospital for medical assessment and treatment. The exact nature and severity of their injuries are currently being evaluated by healthcare professionals.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Officers swiftly established a cordon on Bearwood High Street, specifically near the junction with Reginald Road, to secure the scene. A police spokesperson confirmed that three men have been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident. The investigation is described as being in its early stages, with officers conducting a range of enquiries to determine the precise circumstances that led to the violence.

"Our investigation is at an early stage and a cordon remains in place on Bearwood Road as officers carry out a range of enquiries to establish the exact circumstances around what happened," stated a representative from Sandwell Police. "Three men have been arrested on suspicion of assault."

Transport Disruption and Community Impact

The road closure has caused significant disruption to local transport services. National Express West Midlands has diverted the number 82 and 87 bus routes. Services are being rerouted via Sandon Road, City Road, Portland Road, and Shireland Road for the 82, and via Windmill Lane, Soho Way, and Crocketts Lane for the 87.

Separate traffic reports from Inrix indicate that Smethwick High Street is also closed in both directions due to a serious accident, though it is currently unclear if this incident is related to the disorder in Bearwood. There are also unconfirmed reports of a white Audi being sealed off near Crocketts Lane.

Appeal for Information

Authorities have urged members of the public to come forward with any information. Police believe this to be an isolated incident but have assured the community that officers will remain in the area. Anyone with details, including footage from the scene, is asked to contact West Midlands Police on 101 or via the Live Chat function on their website, quoting log number 4666 from February 11th.

Local residents are advised to avoid the area and plan alternative travel routes while the police investigation continues.
