Birmingham murder suspect still at large six months on

More than six months after the fatal stabbing of 19-year-old Chris Ikouara in Acocks Green, the prime suspect, Zachariah Liburd, 22, remains at large despite a £10,000 reward offered by Crimestoppers for information leading to his capture.

The attack and victim

Chris Ikouara was knifed at an address on Olton Boulevard East in Acocks Green on January 13. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His family described him as "caring" and "deeply-cherished."

Suspect still on the run

Detectives named Zachariah Liburd as the prime suspect and released his mugshot to the public. However, Liburd has evaded capture for over half a year, with his whereabouts unknown. Police have urged him "to do the right thing before we find you," according to Det Supt Jim Munro.

Appeals and reward

To intensify pressure, West Midlands Police and Crimestoppers launched a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to Liburd's arrest. The case was also featured on BBC's Crimewatch to widen the appeal.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Poole stated: "If you know where Liburd is or have any information, please get in touch. You don't need to speak to us, you can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers and remain completely anonymous. Any information given to them and us will be treated in complete confidence. You might think your information is irrelevant, but it could make a difference."

Police statement

West Midlands Police reiterated: "Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £10,000 to find Zachariah Liburd who is wanted in connection with the murder of a man in Birmingham. On January 13, Christopher Ikouara was stabbed at an address on Olton Boulevard East, Acocks Green. Sadly the 19-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts remain with his family and it's important we now get them justice. As part of the investigation, detectives want to speak to 22-year-old Zachariah Liburd."
