Police were called to Rottingdean beach in Brighton on Friday morning after a man's body was discovered, marking the fourth such tragedy in the coastal city within weeks. The grim find comes less than three weeks after three sisters lost their lives in the area.
Sussex Police confirmed that officers are at the scene, with a cordon in place. A spokesperson stated: "Police were called to the beach at Rottingdean on Friday morning, May 29, after a report of a body of a man found on the beach. He has not yet been formally identified, and enquiries are being made to establish the full circumstances."

The incident follows the deaths of three women whose bodies were recovered from the sea near Madeira Drive on May 13. They were identified as Jane Adetoro, 36, Christina Walters, 32, and Rebecca Walters, 31, all from the Uxbridge area of London. An inquest into their deaths opened in Brighton on Friday, where it was revealed that post-mortem tests have so far failed to determine how they died.

Senior coroner Penelope Schofield addressed the sisters' father, Joseph Jacobson, who attended the hearing online, stating that losing all three daughters must be "unbearable." The court heard that Jane Adetoro was brought ashore by an RNLI crew and pronounced dead at the scene. Her sisters, Christina and Rebecca, were recovered separately—one by lifeboat, the other washed onto Brighton beach—and both were declared dead by paramedics.
Police have indicated they are satisfied there was no third-party involvement, but medical investigations are ongoing. The sisters lived together in Greenford, west London, and their occupations are unknown. The coroner expressed hope that details revealed in court would "stop social media speculation" about the tragedy. Proceedings have been adjourned until October 8.
Their father added that while grief sometimes feels "unbearable," he clings to shared memories and "the bond that death can never take away."
