A dangerous child rapist from the Midlands has been locked up for a string of horrific sexual offences against a young boy.
Predator Faces Justice
Jason Lane, 44, of Old Coach Road in Droitwich, Worcestershire, was found guilty of 16 sexual offences at Redditch Crown Court in June. His crimes included three counts of raping a boy under 13, two counts of raping a boy aged 13 to 15, and multiple counts of sexual assault and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Ahead of his sentencing at Worcester Crown Court on November 12, the presiding judge described Lane as a very dangerous individual.
Substantial Sentence Handed Down
The court sentenced the evil paedophile to 21 years behind bars, with an additional four years on licence. He was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to protect the public upon any future release.
Detective Constable Allie Thompson of West Mercia Police welcomed the lengthy sentence, stating: We are pleased to get this lengthy sentence for Lane whose predatory sexual behaviour has caused much harm to his victim and their family.
Police Praise Victim's Bravery
DC Thompson went on to commend the incredible courage shown by the victim and their family throughout the arduous judicial process. I would like to commend the victim and their family for their bravery in coming forward, she said.
This bravery was instrumental in securing a conviction and ultimately taking a very dangerous individual off the streets. The police hope the sentence will help the victim move forward with the appropriate support.
The officer also thanked the investigating team for their tireless work over several years, which led to this substantial sentence. West Mercia Police emphasised that they will always pursue sexual predators and bring them before the courts, encouraging other victims of sexual offences to come forward with the assurance that they will be listened to and protected.
