Albanian man jailed for 14 months after third illegal UK entry
Deported twice, man jailed after third illegal UK entry

An Albanian national, who had been removed from the United Kingdom on two previous occasions, is now back behind bars after entering the country illegally for a third time.

Repeated Breaches of Deportation Order

Emirjon Gjuta, aged 34, was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment at Leeds Crown Court on Friday, 28 November. He pleaded guilty to re-entering the UK in November 2024, an act which directly contravened a deportation order originally issued against him in 2020.

Gjuta's history of immigration offences and crime in Britain is extensive. He was first deported in August 2020 after receiving a prison sentence of four years and six months in September 2019 for conspiracy to produce cannabis and identity document offences. Prior to his removal, he had signed a document stating he would not oppose the deportation.

Failed Attempts to Evade Justice

Despite his initial removal, Gjuta returned and was arrested in March 2022 for being in the UK illegally. For this breach and related false document crimes, he was jailed for eight months and subsequently deported for a second time in March 2023.

In a recent attempt to justify his latest illegal entry, Gjuta claimed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) that he had not fully understood the contents of the original deportation order because he lacked an interpreter during court proceedings in 2020 and 2022. However, this defence was undermined by official documents he had signed, which confirmed he did not object to the order and never appealed it.

CPS Vows Continued Action

Nick Smith from the CPS stated: "Gjuta had no right to remain or work in the UK and has been deported twice already. It’s clear he does not care about the rules and has committed crimes when he’s been in the UK previously."

Smith emphasised the commitment of the prosecution service to collaborate with the Home Office and police to bring to justice those with no legal right to be in the country. The exact method by which Gjuta re-entered the UK in November 2024 remains unclear. He was eventually arrested in Leeds in September 2025, leading to his latest conviction.
