Gunshots Fired at Birmingham Home, Police Investigate

West Midlands Police have launched an investigation after gunshots were fired at a home in Ward End, Birmingham, on the evening of Wednesday, July 1. The incident occurred on Foley Road at around 7.30pm, prompting officers to seal off the road and establish a police cordon around the affected property.

No Injuries Reported

Fortunately, no one was injured during the shooting, according to a police spokesperson. Officers remained at the scene conducting extensive inquiries, including forensic examinations and door-to-door visits. The road closure caused traffic disruption, but the cordon has since been lifted.

Second Shooting in Birmingham That Night

The Foley Road shooting occurred just two hours after another shooting approximately two miles away in Bowyer Road, Alum Rock. In that incident, a 16-year-old boy sustained gunshot wounds and was left fighting for his life. As of Friday, July 3, he remained in a critical condition. A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life in connection with that incident. He was due to appear before Birmingham magistrates on July 3.

No Link Established

Police have stated that there is currently no indication linking the two shootings. However, they continue to investigate both incidents separately and are urging anyone with information to come forward. The force has increased patrols in the area to reassure residents and deter further violence.
