Incident Details
Merseyside Police were called to Newton Community Hospital around midday on December 30, 2025, after reports that a man had requested an appointment and became increasingly agitated when refused. He allegedly damaged a countertop before assaulting several people with a crowbar. Six people were injured, suffering head lacerations, bruising, and arm and hand injuries.
One witness, Sugedran Shanmugaraja, who works at a nearby Best One store, said a woman ran in asking for help with blood on her head and shoulder. Another resident expressed shock, saying, "You don't expect something like that to happen at a hospital."
Judge Stuart Driver KC adjourned the case and remanded Momand in custody until the trial, stating, "Omar Momand, your trial will take place in the week of the 14th of September. You are remanded in custody."
