Two Arrested After Targeted Knife Attack on Driver in Telford

Police have made two arrests following a serious assault described as a targeted knife attack on a driver in Telford.

Details of the Crudington Assault

The incident occurred on the B5062 near Crugtone Way in Crudington at approximately 5.50pm on Friday, January 16, 2026. According to West Mercia Police, a man in his 40s was driving when he pulled over. He was then approached by a suspect who had been driving a dark-coloured vehicle.

The suspect opened the victim's car door and assaulted him with a bladed article. The victim required hospital treatment for his injuries. Investigators have stated that early inquiries indicate this was a deliberate and targeted attack.

Police Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

A 54-year-old man was arrested on the morning of Sunday, January 18, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He remains in police custody.

Additionally, a 35-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday, January 17 on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. She has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Matt Keeble from West Mercia Police said: “Thank you to everyone who has assisted with our investigations, which has now led to two people being arrested in connection with the attack. Our investigation remains very much ongoing, and we are continuing with our enquiries.”

Officers are continuing to urge anyone with information to come forward. They are particularly keen to speak to:

  • Motorists with dashcam footage of the incident or the dark-coloured vehicle involved.
