West Midlands Police have confirmed the arrest of a 32-year-old man after a stabbing occurred on Bridge Road in Alum Rock, Birmingham. The incident, which took place shortly after midday on Tuesday, resulted in two people sustaining injuries.

Authorities were alerted to the scene at approximately 12:06 PM following multiple emergency calls reporting a stabbing near a nursery. A man was seriously injured in the attack, while a woman also suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. In response, armed officers were deployed to the area as part of the police operation.
A nearby nursery was placed in lockdown as a precautionary measure after witnesses reported seeing a man stabbing another individual in the street. The suspect was apprehended and remains in police custody pending further investigation.

Detective Superintendent James Munro of West Midlands Police addressed the community, stating, "We believe this to be a contained incident with a man in custody. We are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to a number of people in the area. But would appeal to anyone who has any information to get in touch."
He added, "We understand how deeply distressing and concerning this incident is and we will have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance to the community."
