Man banned from Worcester centre after 'ball in sock' threat

A Worcester man has been handed a two-year ban from the city centre after a series of violent incidents, including one where he brandished a makeshift weapon inside a popular pub.

Court Convictions and City Centre Ban

Shaun Skyvington, aged 58 and of no fixed abode, was found guilty of multiple offences at Worcester Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 6 January 2026. The court imposed a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) prohibiting him from entering a defined part of Worcester city centre for the next two years.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £114 and costs of £85 for a charge of assault by beating.

Details of the Offences

The court heard details of three separate incidents. On 8 September 2025, Skyvington committed harassment and assault by beating in Crown Passage, Worcester.

Just weeks later, on 20 September 2025, he was in possession of an offensive weapon, described as a 'ball in a sock', inside a Wetherspoons pub in the city centre.

The final incident occurred on 4 November 2025 on Broad Street. Skyvington was convicted of public disorder, harassment, and making threats to a person while in possession of an offensive weapon – this time, a screwdriver.

Police Statement on Public Safety

Police Sergeant Sarah England of the Worcester city centre team welcomed the court's decision. She stated that Skyvington's public disorder and violent behaviour had been threatening towards members of the public.

"We hope serving this CBO on him shows we will not tolerate violence or threatening behaviour in our city centre and act where appropriate to keep everyone safe from harm," said PS England.

The police have urged anyone who sees Shaun Skyvington breaching the terms of his Criminal Behaviour Order to report it immediately to West Mercia Police via 101 or through their online crime reporting portal.
